The founders of Qutoof Consultancy Center for Food and Agriculture perceive the importance of the foundation Center of Excellence to modernize crops, animals and fisheries food systems to face the challenges that cast a shadow on food security in Oman and countries of the region, and the most importance challenges are:
- The negative impact of climate change, land degradation, desertification and water scarcity on food production systems.
- Food production projects are susceptible to slowdown, failure and loss.
- Replacing traditional practicing systems in food production with modern technical methods to ensure sustainability and success.
- Lack of skills and field operational expertise of food investment projects.
- Achieve low productivity in food production systems and weak attention toward the quality and safety of the produced food commodities.
- High rate of poverty and malnutrition for large segments in specific countries of the region.
- There is an urgent need to introduce new farming systems such as smart farms, pioneer farms, organic farms and digital farms based on the application of modern technologies.
- Finally, the status of high rates of population growth accompanied by law rates in food production are negatively impacted on food security.
